After the Republican convention in Milwaukee, where presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke to his voters, American writer Stephen King took to social media to share his fears for the country.
This prompted a mocking response from tech mogul Elon Musk.
King, known for his famous horror novels and outspoken political opinions, has been a vocal critic of Trump for years.
Earlier in July, King tweeted, "Trump's cronies are planning what amounts to a fascist state, and the Supreme Court is clearing the way for them. This should concern conservatives as well as liberals."
Now the author is making headlines again.
Yesterday, Stephen King wrote on the social network X, "I fear for my country," in response to the growing influence of former President Donald Trump.
Elon Musk responded to the tweet with a brief but dismissive "Ha-ha-ha," sparking a wave of reactions from other users.
Reactions on Social Media
Many users on X supported Musk’s reaction and criticized King for his concerns.
Some users called King a “drama queen” and suggested that he leave the country if he was so worried.
Comments included statements like, "Then get out. No one wants you here," and "If you’re scared for the country right now, it’s because you voted for [US President Joe] Biden."
Others echoed sentiments such as, "I’m scared too. Mostly because of people like you," and "We are too. That’s why we voted for Trump."
One user bluntly stated, "Then leave America. You won’t be missed."
Musk's Support for Trump
According to reports by URA, the Tesla CEO is prepared to allocate millions of dollars in support of Trump.
He plans to contribute $45 million monthly to the new political committee America PAC, which backs Trump's presidential campaign.
