BlendJet, a popular brand of portable blenders, is conducting a voluntary recall of 4.8 million of its BlendJet2 blenders.
This recall comes after concerns that these blenders could overheat, catch fire, or have their blades break off, posing significant fire and laceration hazards to consumers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has echoed these concerns in their statements.
Where Were They Sold?
These blenders have been previously sold by major retailers including Amazon, Target, Costco, and Walmart. However, the company has clarified that the BlendJet 2 blenders currently for sale are not impacted by the recall.
Immediate Action Advised
In its recall notice, BlendJet advised customers,
"You should immediately stop using the recalled blender." The CPSC also emphasized the potential dangers of continuing to use these blenders. For those who own affected units, BlendJet is offering a free replacement base unit (and matching lid) for their portable blender. Costco has offered an alternative option for its customers, allowing them to return their blender for a full refund.
