In northeast London, British police arrested a 36-year-old man armed with a sword following a reported stabbing near Hainault train station.

The man was detained after allegedly driving a vehicle into a house and subsequently attacking members of the public and two police officers, according to Reuters.

The Metropolitan Police responded promptly to the scene, ensuring the suspect was taken into custody.

According to the police, the suspect launched an attack that injured several individuals. The nature and extent of the injuries have not been detailed, but the incident caused considerable alarm in the community.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan of the Metropolitan Police provided reassurance, stating, "This must have been a terrifying incident for those involved. I know the wider community will be feeling shock and alarm."

"We do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the wider community."

The incident has drawn attention at the highest levels, with Britain's Interior Minister, James Cleverly, being regularly updated about the unfolding situation.

Cleverly expressed his concern on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "My thoughts are with those who have been affected."
