During former US President Donald Trump's time in office, Moscow and Washington maintained a dialogue, according to Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian leader.
This statement came in response to Trump's recent claim that Russia and China were afraid of him.
"One can only imagine that during Trump's presidency there were many worries, many points of tension and contradictions. But, in essence, it was a dialogue," Peskov said during a conference call, as reported by a URA.RU correspondent.
Peskov noted that this level of dialogue distinguishes Trump from his successors and predecessors. He also emphasized that political statements made during US election campaigns are often aimed at appealing to a domestic audience.
