On the night of December 17, another shipment of military equipment from South Korea arrived in Poland.
This time, the transport ship delivered K2 Black Panther tanks, K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, and Homar-K launcher modules.
"We have received a complete set of K2 tanks for this year. Seven tanks have arrived in Poland, making a total of 84. The Polish Army has also taken delivery of additional K9 howitzers and Homar-K launchers. K9 deliveries are progressing according to plan, while the delivery of the launchers has been accelerated—this being the second shipment originally scheduled for next year," wrote Paweł Bejda, Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense, on on X.
This was reported by the WP Tech.
Weapons Delivery from South Korea to Poland
The latest delivery includes seven K2 Black Panther tanks, 16 K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers (in the K9A1 variant), and six Homar-K launcher modules.
The Polish Armament Agency shared a short video of the equipment being unloaded on social media.
The arrival of the K2 Black Panther tanks is particularly noteworthy, as this shipment brings the total number of these tanks in Poland to 84.
Manufactured by the Hyundai Rotem Corporation, the K2 Black Panther is considered one of the most advanced tanks in the world.
The K2 tanks are equipped with 120 mm L/55 smoothbore guns with automatic loading systems, compatible with NATO ammunition. Additional armament includes 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm machine guns.
Powered by 1,500 HP engines, these 55-ton tanks can reach a maximum speed of approximately 70 km/h.
More K9 Thunder Self-Propelled Howitzers
The K9A1 Thunder is a self-propelled gun-howitzer produced by Hanwha Defense. It features a 155 mm gun with a 52-caliber barrel, capable of striking targets up to 40 kilometers away using standard ammunition.
The K9A1 has a maximum rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute, and its crew can also operate a 12.7 mm machine gun for engaging lightly armored targets.
With this latest shipment, Poland now possesses 136 K9A1 self-propelled howitzers and 60 Homar-K launcher modules (K239 Chunmoo).
Earlier this month, at the Central Air Force Training Ground in Ustka, the Polish Army conducted its first live-fire combat tests using these systems. Together with HIMARS artillery, these launchers form the “long arm” of the Polish Land Forces.
