President-elect Donald Trump’s team has reached an agreement with outgoing President Joe Biden’s administration to start the official transfer of power, according to CNN.
"President-elect Trump, having signed a memorandum of understanding with the White House led by President Joe Biden, is entering the next phase of the transition (of power - IF) to his administration," said Susan Wiles, Trump's appointed chief of staff, as quoted by CNN.
The agreement allows Trump’s team to begin forming staff for departments and agencies to "complete an orderly transition of power." It also grants them access to critical briefings and transition activities, CNN reports.
White House officials stated that federal agencies will be instructed to securely share information with Trump’s team.
The current administration is set to conclude on January 20, 2025, when Donald Trump is inaugurated as the next president.
