President-elect Donald Trump stated on November 14 that his administration will prioritize addressing the Russia-Ukraine war. Speaking at an event in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Trump emphasized the need for an end to the conflict.

"We’re going to work very hard on Russia and Ukraine. It’s gotta stop. Russia and Ukraine’s gotta stop," Trump said, according to CNN. "Whether they’re soldiers or people sitting in towns, we’re going to work it."

Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election has raised questions about the future of Western military aid to Ukraine and its defense against Russia's ongoing invasion.

Earlier, Fox News reported that Trump plans to appoint a senior Ukrainian peace envoy to lead negotiations aimed at ending the war.

"You’re going to see a very senior special envoy, someone with a lot of credibility, who will be tasked with finding a resolution and achieving a peace settlement," a source close to the matter said, adding that the appointment will happen "soon."

A similar role was previously held by Kurt Volker, a former U.S. Ambassador to NATO, who served as the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine from 2017 to 2019.
