In a surprising turn of events, Fred Trump III, nephew of former President Donald Trump, announced his support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming November 2024 presidential election.
Harris is the Right Leader
Speaking to multiple U.S. media outlets, Fred Trump III expressed his concerns about the current state of the nation and his belief that Harris is the right leader to steer the country back to stability.
"I've decided to support Kamala Harris because the situation has reached an unacceptable level of madness. I strongly believe our freedoms are at risk, and Kamala Harris is the only one who can prevent further discord and the decline of democracy in our country," Fred Trump III stated in an interview with CNN, according to News.ro.
Reflecting on his uncle’s 2016 campaign, Fred Trump III admitted he did not publicly oppose Donald Trump's candidacy at the time, a decision he now regrets. "Some of the family thought it was just a publicity stunt, that he didn't think he'd win or even want to win. But I didn't think he could do much harm if elected," he told CNN.
Every Family has a Crazy Uncle
Promoting his new book, "All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way," which was published on July 30, Fred Trump III, 61, shared his unease about his uncle’s ongoing political influence. "Every family has a crazy uncle. My uncle Donald is completely insane and has left his mark on our family history," he said in an interview with ABC News.
The book also contains serious accusations against Donald Trump, including allegations of making racist remarks and suggesting Fred let his disabled son die. These claims were quickly denied by Donald Trump's campaign team. "Anyone who knows President Trump knows he would never use such language, and false stories like these are completely discredited," a campaign spokesperson told The New York Times, describing Fred Trump III's account as "entirely fabricated."
Fred Trump III revealed to The Washington Post that he voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. His sister, Mary L. Trump, also published a book in 2020 condemning their uncle's behavior, calling him a pathological liar.
