To strengthen its presence along the eastern flank and the Black Sea area, NATO has deployed Turkish F-16 fighter jets in collaboration with Romanian aircraft to protect the alliance's airspace.
Four F-16 jets from the Turkish Air Force have arrived at Romania's Fetesti Air Base to bolster NATO's air policing efforts, as announced by NATO on Tuesday.
According to a post from NATO Air Command on X, the Turkish F-16 jets sortied alongside Romanian fighter jets "to safeguard NATO airspace on the eastern flank and the Black Sea region."
This deployment signifies Türkiye's robust involvement in NATO's ongoing efforts to enhance air surveillance and defense capabilities.
Having been a part of NATO for more than seven decades, Türkiye is known for having the alliance's second-largest military force.
