The United Kingdom has implemented 46 new sanctions on Russia, including specific measures aimed at individuals associated with the Wagner Group.

The sanctions also extend to people and organizations in the Central African Republic, Libya, and Mali, linked to mercenary activities in these regions.

Additionally, one individual faces sanctions for involvement in chemical weapons use. The full list of sanctioned individuals has been published on the UK government’s website.

As reported by United24 Media, those sanctioned include:

  • Denis Sergeev, a GRU officer and suspect in the 2018 Novichok poisoning of Sergey and Yulia Skripal. Sergeev reportedly supported the preparation and use of the chemical agent in Salisbury and coordinated aspects of the attack from London.

  • Anatoly Bibilov, former president of South Ossetia, an autonomous region.

  • The “Espanola” battalion, fighting against Ukraine, along with its commander Stanislav Orlov.

  • The “African Corps” and its commander Andrei Averyanov, reportedly set to replace Wagner forces in Libya.

The UK government also accused these individuals of managing the disinformation network Doppelganger, which circulated social media content praising Russia, criticizing Ukraine, and suggesting that sanctions on Russia would harm the West, as observed by Meta.

In related actions, the US Department of Justice has charged Eleview International Inc. and its executives for allegedly exporting American technology to Russia in violation of sanctions, as reported by the Virginia Office of Public Affairs on November 4.
