During an October 30 UN Security Council meeting on "Maintaining Peace and Security in Ukraine," Ukraine's UN representative, Sergiy Kyslytsya, warned that North Korea's involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine is a global threat.
As cited by United24 Media, Kyslytsya said North Korea’s actions go beyond just supporting Russia—they align with its own military and political ambitions.
Kyslytsya pointed to growing military ties between Russia and North Korea, saying this cooperation is dangerous not just for Europe but for the Korean Peninsula and beyond.
He warned that North Korean soldiers, especially officers who gain combat experience in Ukraine, could return home with advanced skills.
“This isn’t just about Ukraine,” Kyslytsya stressed, explaining that the actions of authoritarian countries like Russia and North Korea put the global order at risk. He criticized those who think that limiting Ukraine's defense against these two nuclear powers might somehow lead to peace.
“This belief is either naive or cynical. Holding back Ukraine’s right to defend itself only offers a short break in the conflict, at Ukraine’s expense,” he concluded.
Reports suggest that Ukrainian forces have already struck buildings in Russia’s Kursk region, where North Korean troops are believed to be stationed.
