The United States has disclosed intelligence showing North Korea is preparing to send additional arms and troops to Russia to bolster its war efforts in Ukraine.
Robert Wood, the US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, shared the update during a UN Security Council meeting, calling for immediate action to address the situation.
“North Korea is planning to supply even more ballistic missiles,” Wood revealed in a press release. “We also have evidence that 170mm long-range self-propelled artillery and 240mm multiple rocket launchers from North Korea are entering the battlefield.”
The US claims North Korea has already sent over 18,000 containers of ammunition, more than 100 ballistic missiles, and other military equipment, which have been used in strikes on Ukrainian cities.
In return, Russia is believed to be providing air defense systems, fuel, and dual-use technologies to Pyongyang.
Wood stressed that China has the power to influence North Korea and should act swiftly to prevent the conflict from escalating further.
“China holds significant sway over the DPRK and must use this leverage to stop these dangerous developments,” he said.
This revelation came during a UN Security Council session focused on Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
