Tragedy Strikes at a Packed Venue

A devastating fire broke out on Saturday night at a nightclub in Kočani, which is located in eastern North Macedonia, during a concert attended by approximately 1,500 people.

The blaze spread rapidly to the ceiling and roof of the club, leading to chaos and a high number of casualties.

Authorities have confirmed at least 50 deaths, while more than 100 others sustained injuries, many of them severe. Officials suspect the fire was caused by pyrotechnic devices used inside the venue, though an official investigation is still ongoing.

Disturbing Footage Shared Online

Video recordings, which are found in the bottom of this article, of the fire’s ignition and rapid spread have circulated widely on social media - particularly on X.com, better known as Twitter.

The footage shows flames engulfing the club’s interior within moments, causing panic as attendees scrambled to escape.

The North Macedonian Ministry of Interior has launched a full inquiry into the tragedy. Meanwhile, officials are urging venue operators to reevaluate safety measures to prevent similar disasters in the future.
