Sébastien Delaugue, a member of the far-left France Invincible party, was suspended from the French National Assembly for two weeks after he displayed a Palestinian flag during a parliamentary session.
This incident was reported by AFP.
During a session that included a discussion on whether France should recognize a Palestinian state, Delaugue raised a Palestinian flag, prompting the parliament's speaker, Yael Braun-Pivet, to deem his actions unacceptable.
As a result, Delaugue's colleagues voted to suspend him and reduce his parliamentary allowance by half for two months.
President Emmanuel Macron recently stated that France would recognize Palestine at the "right moment," emphasizing a desire for a decision free from emotional influence.
This development coincided with Spain, Ireland, and Norway's official recognition of the Palestinian state, increasing the total to 145 of the 193 UN member states.
On the same day, Israel summoned the ambassadors from these recognizing states to present a video depicting a hostage situation involving Hamas militants. Israel also recalled its ambassadors from these countries in response.
