Guinness World Records celebrated its annual World Records Day with a remarkable meeting between the tallest and shortest women in the world.

Rumeysa Gelgi, who stands at 215.16 centimeters (7 feet 0.71 inches), and Jyoti Amge, measuring just 62.8 centimeters (2 feet 0.72 inches), came together for tea at London’s iconic Savoy Hotel, according to El Economista.

The two women, separated by a staggering height difference of 152.36 centimeters (just under 5 feet), bonded over shared interests during their meeting.

Despite the physical contrast, they discovered surprising commonalities in their lives.

“We have things in common. We both love makeup, self-care, jewelry, and doing our nails. Sometimes it was hard to maintain eye contact because of our height difference, but it was amazing,” Gelgi shared about their time together.

Both Gelgi and Amge have been named Guinness World Records Icons, a new category introduced for the 2025 edition of the record book.

This recognition honors individuals who use their unique conditions to inspire others and raise awareness about physical differences.

Gelgi, a web developer from Turkey, was confirmed as the tallest living woman in 2021. Her height is due to an exceptionally rare condition called Weaver syndrome.

According to Guinness World Records, she is one of only 27 people worldwide diagnosed with this condition.

Amge, an actress from India, holds the title of the shortest living woman.

She was born with a genetic condition called achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism that affects the development of cartilage into bone, particularly in the arms and legs.

This condition occurs during early fetal development and results in distinct physical characteristics.

The meeting was not just a celebration of records but also a moment of connection and representation.

Both women have used their unique statures to advocate for inclusion and understanding of people with physical differences, proving that the world’s most extraordinary individuals share more than meets the eye.
