On January 2, Russia launched 99 missiles at Ukraine, of which 72 were intercepted, including all 10 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles.
The attacks targeted civilian, industrial, and military facilities, primarily in the capital. The Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down 59 of 70 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles, all 3 Kalibr cruise missiles, and all 35 attack UAVs.
The offensive involved 16 Tu-95MS bombers and MiG-31K fighters. The attack resulted in civilian casualties and damage in Kyiv and Kharkiv. This was part of a series of massive attacks on Ukraine.
