Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a unique invitation to former U.S. President Donald Trump, challenging him to visit Kyiv and fulfill his claim of ending the ongoing war with Russia within a day.
In an interview with Channel 4 News in the U.K., Zelensky addressed Trump's assertions that the conflict wouldn’t have occurred under his presidency and that he could swiftly resolve it, owing to his "good relationship" with both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump, who has made repeated statements about his potential to halt the conflict but has not elaborated on his plan, is now directly invited by Zelensky to prove his capabilities.
Zelensky, who previously extended an invitation without receiving a response, is now pressing for specifics of Trump's so-called "formula" for peace.
The Ukrainian leader expressed skepticism about Trump's ability to negotiate an end to the war without compromising Ukraine's sovereignty.
“He is very welcome to come here, but I think he cannot end the war in 24 hours, without giving our land to Putin,” Zelensky stated, highlighting the complexity of the situation and the challenge to Trump's assertions.
Zelensky's bold invitation and the stipulation of a 24-hour deadline underscore the urgency and gravity of the conflict in Ukraine, while also putting Trump's claims to the test.
