Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed disturbing details about the treatment of North Korean soldiers fighting for Russia, claiming their faces are being deliberately burned to conceal their identities.
In an interview with Lex Fridman, Zelenskyy stated, "They brought in North Korean soldiers. Their faces are burned—Russians burn their faces. Those who cannot escape—whether injured or killed—are left that way."
The Ukrainian President alleged that Russian forces are intentionally inflicting these burns to ensure the soldiers cannot be recognized.
He added that there is video evidence supporting these claims, saying, "Everything I am telling you is backed by evidence."
North Korean Involvement
Zelenskyy’s comments provide further insight into Russia's use of foreign recruits, particularly North Korean soldiers, in its war effort.
He previously reported that thousands of North Korean troops fighting for Russia have been killed or wounded.
Zelenskyy also disclosed that approximately 3,800 North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured in the conflict.
He warned that Russia may escalate its reliance on North Korean manpower, stating, "As many as 30-40 thousand, or even 500 thousand North Koreans, could eventually be sent to fight against us."
