Kamala Harris, the current U.S. Vice President and Democratic candidate for the 2024 election, is set to give her first major interview of the campaign.

This interview, scheduled to air on CNN on August 29, 2024, has already stirred controversy.

Republican critics, including Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and former President Donald Trump, are seizing the opportunity to attack Harris.

Huckabee Sanders even went so far as to suggest that Harris needs a “babysitter” for the interview, as she will be appearing alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

This criticism is rooted in the claim that Harris is incapable of conducting an interview alone, which Sanders interprets as a sign of weakness.

According to the Frankfurter Rundschau, Republicans argue that Harris' decision to conduct the interview with Walz indicates insecurity.

Trump supporters have accused Harris of pre-recording the interview to avoid potential mistakes.

Scott Jennings, a former aide to George W. Bush, also expressed doubts about Harris' confidence, calling her joint appearance with Walz "weak."

Harris' campaign defends the decision, pointing out that it is traditional for presidential and vice-presidential candidates to give interviews together, a practice common in both major parties over the past 20 years. The Biden-Harris campaign and the Trump-Vance campaign have also adhered to this tradition.

Harris' team emphasized that the joint appearance with Walz is not a sign of weakness but rather a demonstration of the campaign's team spirit.
