U.S. authorities announced on Wednesday that Iranian hackers sent stolen documents from Donald Trump's campaign to members of Joe Biden's campaign, which has since withdrawn from the presidential race.

Unsolicited Emails

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a joint statement detailing the cyberattacks, according to Digi24.

According to the agencies, the hackers sent unsolicited emails to individuals associated with Biden's campaign containing fragments of confidential documents from Trump’s campaign.

Notably, none of these emails received a response from Biden’s team. This revelation adds to earlier claims from August that Iran was responsible for hacking attempts directed at Trump’s campaign.

No Intention to Interfere

Iran's mission to the United Nations has dismissed these allegations, labeling them unfounded.

The Iranian government asserted that it has no intention or motive to interfere in U.S. elections, calling the accusations "inadmissible." They emphasized that repeating such claims undermines the credibility of those making them.

U.S. officials have warned that foreign actors, including Russia, Iran, and China, are increasing their influence operations as the November presidential election approaches. These nations reportedly aim to exacerbate divisions within American society to further their own interests.

In response to the allegations, Trump's campaign highlighted the incident as evidence of Iran's active interference in U.S. elections, asserting that the Iranian government supports Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris because they believe Trump would reinstate stringent sanctions against Iran.
