Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov stated that Russia considers Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, to be more predictable than her Republican counterpart, Donald Trump.

Preferred Biden Over Trump

Peskov did however emphasize that regardless of who wins the U.S. presidency, Moscow does not anticipate any improvement in relations with Washington.

According to Ziare, Peskov noted that before President Joe Biden chose to support Harris, Russian President Vladimir Putin had expressed a preference for Biden over Trump, citing Biden’s experience as a traditional politician.

With Harris now in the spotlight, the Kremlin perceives her similarly, viewing her predictability as a trait common among Democratic candidates.

No Magic Wand

Additionally, Peskov dismissed Trump’s claims that he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours if re-elected, describing the idea as unrealistic.

He argued that resolving the conflict is a complex issue without a quick solution, countering Trump’s promise with the assertion that "there is no magic wand."

Peskov also criticized the U.S. for its actions, which he claimed "trample on the interests" of Russia. He described as "fantasy" any belief that a future American president would abruptly cease military support to Ukraine and initiate peace talks, asserting that such a scenario would not change the situation on the ground.

According to Peskov, the current state of U.S.-Russia relations is worse than it has been in decades, and there are no signs of improvement on the horizon.
