During a recent appearance at an economic forum in Vladivostok, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his preference for Kamala Harris in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

Her Laugh is Expressive

Putin suggested that the current Vice President would be a better option than former President Donald Trump, despite American intelligence reports indicating that Russia might favor Trump, according to Hotnews.

Putin commented on Harris' demeanor, saying, "She laughs so expressively and contagiously that it means everything is fine with her."

He also hinted that this might be a sign that Harris would refrain from imposing additional sanctions on Russia.

Doesn't Like Trump

This remark comes after years of tense relations between the U.S. and Russia, particularly under Trump's administration, which Putin noted had introduced more sanctions against Russia than any other presidency before it.

"Trump imposed more restrictions and sanctions on Russia than anyone else from the White House," Putin stated during the forum.

Though Putin's remarks might seem playful, they underscore a broader strategy. American intelligence agencies have suggested that Russia favors candidates less committed to supporting Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Despite this, Putin's latest comments position Harris as a more predictable and preferable candidate in the 2024 race, especially compared to Trump.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also echoed this sentiment recently, emphasizing that Harris is seen as more predictable, while U.S.-Russia relations remain at a historic low with no signs of improvement.
