The Supreme Court of the United States announced on Monday that former President Donald Trump can claim partial immunity for official actions taken during his presidency.

This decision stems from the case regarding the January 6th Capitol riot.

The Court determined that while Trump's official acts as president are protected, his non-official actions are not covered by this immunity.

Trump's Reaction to the Decision

In response to the ruling, Trump posted on Truth Social, "BIG WIN FOR OUR CONSTITUTION AND DEMOCRACY. PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!"

The Supreme Court's decision highlights that presidents have criminal immunity for actions performed in the course of their official duties.

However, this immunity does not extend to actions deemed non-official.

Impact on Upcoming Elections

The ruling comes just four months before the next U.S. elections, in which Trump aims to return to the White House.

As the former president gears up for another potential run, this decision may play a significant role in shaping the political landscape and public opinion leading up to the election.
