Former President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy with his remarks about immigration during the recent debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Eating Cats and Dogs

Known for his controversial statements, Trump accused immigrants of extreme actions, suggesting they are consuming pets in border cities, according to 20minutos.

"Many cities don’t want to talk about it because it’s embarrassing. In Springfield, they are eating dogs and cats—people’s pets. This is what’s happening in our country. It’s a disgrace," he claimed, leaving Harris visibly shocked.

These comments have drawn criticism not only from Democrats but also reportedly frustrated some of Trump’s closest allies.

Need for Humane Immigration Reforms

According to sources, his advisors had prepared him to avoid falling into traps set by Harris designed to provoke him. However, he maintained his hardline stance on immigration, blaming the Biden administration and Harris for what he described as weak border security.

He argued that current policies would allow "millions of people" to enter the country unchecked, leading to increased crime and other societal issues.

Harris responded to Trump’s accusations by defending the Democratic approach to immigration.

She emphasized the need for humane immigration reform and criticized Trump for his inflammatory rhetoric. Harris argued that demonizing immigrants is not a viable solution to the complex issues facing the country.

Instead, she called for comprehensive immigration reform that addresses the root causes of migration.
