Donald Trump announced via his social media platform, Truth Social, that he would not participate in any further debates with Democratic opponent Kamala Harris before the upcoming U.S. presidential election on November 5.
Harris Pushes for Secon Round
This declaration follows a contentious debate between Trump and Harris that took place earlier in the week, according to Linternaute.
Trump's refusal to engage in additional debates was not entirely unexpected. Speculation had been swirling that the debate on Tuesday might be the final one. Trump’s stance came with a firm assertion: “There will be no third debate,” he declared, suggesting that the matter was settled.
In contrast, Kamala Harris is pushing for another round.
On X (formerly Twitter), the Democratic vice-presidential candidate emphasized the importance of having another debate, stating:
“We have a duty to the voters to have a new debate.”
I Won the Debate
Harris had a strong performance during the last debate, where she notably challenged Trump and, according to the New York Times, the debate boosted her campaign significantly, resulting in $47 million in donations within 24 hours.
Trump, however, contends that the debate outcome was in his favor.
He compared Harris's request for another debate to a boxer’s reaction after a loss, implying that her demand for a rematch indicated she felt defeated.
“The polls clearly show that I won the debate against the radical leftist Kamala Harris,” Trump stated on Truth Social.
He also criticized Harris for focusing on debating instead of addressing her past performance during her vice-presidential term.
