Donald Trump’s recent election victory marks his return to the White House on January 20, 2025, four years after leaving office.
Without Melania by His Side
This time, however, he will be stepping back into the role without his wife, Melania Trump, by his side full-time.
Melania reportedly plans to remain at their residence in Palm Beach, Florida, only traveling to Washington for significant ceremonial duties like state visits, according to El Economista.
According to sources, Melania found her first experience as First Lady between 2017 and 2021 deeply unpleasant.
Reports from Axios describe her time in the White House as “a living hell,” and she has little desire to reprise that role.
Her focus will be on Palm Beach, where she’s spent the past four years, and New York, where her son Barron may attend school.
Distancing Herself
This decision adds fuel to persistent rumors of distance between Melania and Donald Trump.
Journalist Kate Andersen Brower commented:
“She’s distancing herself even further from her husband, politics, and the surrounding social scene.”
However, the new president-elect continues to project an image of family unity.
Melania accompanied him to vote in Mar-a-Lago on election day and celebrated with him after the results, with Trump praising her as “the best best-seller in the world” following her recent book release.
Yet, hints of separation remain visible. Melania was the first to leave Trump’s victory celebration and notably absent from a family photo shared on social media by Kai Trump.
The image, titled “The whole team,” featured Trump’s children and their partners, including Don Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle, Tiffany Trump and Michael Boulos, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Eric and Lara Trump, Barron Trump, and even Elon Musk.
