Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy by proposing a radical solution to curb violence in the country.

A Tough Hour for Law Enforcement

During a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Trump suggested allowing law enforcement to have "a very violent day" to restore order.

This extreme proposal has drawn significant criticism on social media, with many comparing his idea to the premise of the horror movie The Purge, where all crimes become legal for one night, according to 20minutes.

Trump, who is also a candidate in the upcoming presidential election on November 5, mentioned that the violence could be curbed "immediately" with this idea.

He even expanded the notion by proposing "a really tough hour" in which law enforcement would face fewer restrictions, allowing them to take more aggressive actions against criminals. However, Trump did not offer specific details on how this concept would be implemented.

Describing The Purge

Unsurprisingly, the backlash was swift. Many social media users accused Trump of essentially describing The Purge, a film in which chaos reigns due to the temporary suspension of laws. "He's literally just describing the plot of The Purge," one user commented.

Others sarcastically questioned whether Trump had been inspired by the film.

Trump’s comments come as part of his broader narrative that crime is rising in cities like Erie, which he attributes to liberal policies and unchecked immigration. He went on to blame migrants for the supposed increase in criminal activity and accused liberal politicians of hindering law enforcement from intervening in cases like shoplifting.
