What You’ll Need

Here’s what you’ll need for this recipe:

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 3 tbsp flour

  • 2 ½ cups milk

  • 2 cups shredded cheese

  • 2 ½ lbs potatoes

Step 1 – Prep the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a baking dish to get it ready for the potatoes.

Step 2 – Melt the Butter

Melt the butter in a pan and stir in the flour. Cook while stirring until the mixture starts to bubble.

Step 3 – Make the Sauce

Remove the pan from heat and slowly add the milk, stirring constantly. Return the pan to heat and bring the sauce to a boil. Gradually add the shredded cheese, stirring until you get a creamy consistency.

Step 4 – Layer the Potatoes

Place one-third of the potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then pour one-third of the sauce over the top. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with a sprinkle of cheese on top.

Step 5 – Bake to Perfection
