The situation surrounding Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has taken a troubling turn following the arrest of a hitman allegedly hired to kill his ex-girlfriend, Nora Haukland.

No Direct Evidence

While there is no direct evidence linking the 27-year-old Høiby to this assassination plot, his controversial legal history has raised significant concerns.

Authorities apprehended a 26-year-old man who confessed to being contracted to kill Haukland. Since the arrest, she has been reported safe, but the circumstances surrounding the case remain unclear.

Last week, Høiby contacted Haukland using a blocked number, which he later denied was intended to threaten her. However, transcripts of these calls obtained by Dagbladet reveal multiple alleged death threats directed at her.

Violated Restraining Order

Marius's behavior has drawn renewed scrutiny toward the Norwegian Royal Family.

Earlier this month, he was arrested for physically and psychologically assaulting Haukland, a charge he admitted to and later apologized for, citing his struggles with mental health issues exacerbated by substance abuse.

In the wake of the assault, Haukland filed a complaint against Høiby for damage to her property, totaling €25,500. ($27,600) This amount includes repair costs for a damaged wall, a broken lamp, and cleaning services needed to restore her home.

Recently, Høiby violated a restraining order placed against him, compounding his already troubled history, which includes a prior conviction for drug trafficking and other legal troubles.
