King Charles III, aged 75, has been battling cancer since February when he publicly announced his diagnosis.
Includes a 22-Hour Flight
Since then, he has been undergoing cancer treatment while balancing his royal duties.
In the initial weeks following his announcement, the King continued with his work from home and only participating in virtual meetings before resuming his royal responsibilities, according to El Economista.
His upcoming trip to Australia, scheduled for October 18, has sparked discussions regarding the appropriateness of undertaking international travel during his treatment.
The journey entails a significant physical effort, including a nearly 22-hour flight from London to Sydney, with a time difference of 10 hours.
Allowed a Temporary Pause
During this state visit, King Charles will travel to key locations including Sydney and Canberra, along with a stop in Samoa for a summit with Commonwealth countries.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, the King’s doctors have allowed him to temporarily pause his cancer treatment during the 11-day trip.
Before his cancer diagnosis, King Charles underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate, which was disclosed in January.
Coincidentally, on the same day, it was revealed that Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, was hospitalized at the London Clinic for an abdominal procedure.
Months later, the Princess announced her own cancer diagnosis, which, according to health expert Concha Calleja, will require another hospital admission for further evaluation.
