Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Camilla is currently unwell due to a chest infection.

Hopes to Recover In Time

Doctors have advised the queen to take a brief period of rest, leading her to withdraw from this week’s public engagements.

"With great regret, Camilla has had to withdraw from her engagements this week," the official statement reads. "She hopes to recover in time to attend this weekend’s commemorative events as planned."

Just weeks ago, King Charles III and Queen Camilla completed a demanding tour of Australia and Samoa, according to El Economista.

During the trip, Charles presided over the Commonwealth summit.

A Difficult Year

The 11-day state visit involved an intense schedule, including a nearly 22-hour flight from London to Sydney, with a challenging 10-hour time difference.

Planned months in advance, the trip sparked debate in the British press about the strain on the 75-year-old king. Since February, he has been undergoing cancer treatment, which he briefly paused for the tour, according to British media reports.

This past year has been a difficult one for the king, who will turn 76 on November 14.

Alongside his cancer and prostate surgery, he has also been dealing with the diagnosis of his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, who is battling cancer.

With these challenges, King Charles has relied heavily on his two key supporters: Prince William and Queen Camilla. Now, Camilla is also stepping back temporarily from her royal duties on doctors’ orders.

Among the events Camilla will miss this week are the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, where the public pays tribute to those who died in service.

She will also skip a planned audience with Paralympic athletes, an event that King Charles will now attend in her place.
