Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, 84, has been hospitalized following a fall at Fredensborg Castle on Wednesday night.
Remains Under Observation
The Danish Royal Household released a statement assuring that the Queen is in good condition, though she remains under observation at the Kingdom Hospital.
The incident has raised concerns, but officials have emphasized that her situation is stable.
Queen Margrethe recently stepped down from the throne in January, passing the crown to her son, King Frederik X.
Despite abdicating, she retains her title and continues to engage in public duties, including her recent attendance at a conference on multiple sclerosis in Copenhagen.
Came as a Suprise
Her abdication surprised many, as she had often declared that her royal duties were "for life."
However, she cited age-related issues and a challenging back surgery as reasons for stepping aside, expressing the need for the next generation to take over.
The Queen’s decision to retire garnered significant attention across Denmark and abroad.
In Spain, the news coincided with a controversial scandal involving the Danish heir, King Frederik X, and his reported meeting with Genoveva Casanova, a Mexican socialite.
The two were spotted together in Madrid, raising eyebrows as Frederik is married to Australian-born Crown Princess Mary.
