The Norwegian royal family is facing a new scandal as Mette-Marit’s son, Marius Berg Hoeiby, has been arrested for violating a court order.
Breached Restraining Order
Hoeiby, 27, was apprehended on Friday the 13th at a hunting lodge in southern Norway. He was found to have breached a restraining order that prohibited him from approaching a woman who had accused him of abuse.
This incident adds to a series of troubling events involving Hoeiby, according to SE.
Earlier in August, Hoeiby was arrested for allegedly assaulting his partner while under the influence of cocaine and alcohol. Reports suggest that Hoeiby’s actions have led multiple women to come forward with allegations of abuse.
The court had previously issued a restraining order against him, preventing contact with these women. Despite this, Hoeiby made several attempts to reach out to one of the complainants, leading to his latest arrest.
Other Royal Scandals
This controversy comes amid other royal scandals. Recently, Princess Martha Louise, Mette-Marit’s stepsister, made headlines for marrying Durek Verrett, a self-styled shaman. Verrett, who claims to use spells and talismans for healing, faced backlash for selling "healing" medallions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The princess’s relationship with Verrett resulted in her removal from official royal duties, though she retained her title. The royal family had to diplomatically address the issue, clarifying that Verrett’s actions were against royal protocols.
In a recent development, Princess Martha Louise and Verrett have threatened to sue the princess’s mother for defamation. They claim that the 81-year-old’s comments, which cast doubt on Verrett’s background and alleged wealth, are damaging.
