French football star Kylian Mbappé is defending himself against vague rape allegations made by the Swedish tabloid press.
Despite ongoing investigations by the Swedish Public Prosecutor’s Office, there is currently no concrete evidence or suspects linked to the case.
The allegations surfaced during Mbappé’s visit to Stockholm, where there was reportedly "reasonable suspicion" of rape. However, no crime scene or suspect has been publicly identified so far.
According to a report by Sportschau, Swedish media outlets like Aftonbladet and Expressen seized upon the story after searches were conducted at a hotel in Stockholm where Mbappé was staying during his visit.
Nevertheless, no confirmed connections between Mbappé and the case have been established.
Mbappé swiftly responded to the allegations, labeling them as "fake news" and announcing a defamation lawsuit. His lawyer emphasized that Mbappé remains calm, as he has nothing to reproach himself for.
Swedish authorities are continuing to investigate the incident after a woman reported the attack. Items of clothing were confiscated, but there is no evidence so far linking them to Mbappé.
