Danish pro-bodybuilder Kristoffer Berner has passed away at the age of 42, according to a heartfelt announcement on his Instagram profile.
The post reads: "It is with indescribable sadness that I have to announce that my beloved Kristoffer has passed away."
Berner, better known as "The Danish Giant," first burst onto the bodybuilding scene in 2017 when he placed fourth at the Amateur Olympia San Marino show in San Marino, Italy.
Five years later, he became an IFBB Pro, thanks to winning his pro card at the 2022 NPC Worldwide Grand Prix in Sweden.
Before his death, Berner was in the final prep stages to compete in the 2024 Chicago Pro on July 20-21 in Chicago, Illinois.
The Danish bodybuilder died on Sunday, July 14, which has been confirmed by multiple reports. Berner would have celebrated his 43rd birthday at the beginning of August.
"His memory will always live on in our hearts and in the many lives he touched with his strength and kindness," reads the last Instagram post on his profile.
Officials have not verified the cause of death.
