In addition to offering high performance, Android phones are now set to deliver much better battery life.

According to a report by Danish tech magazine, Mobilsiden, Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is set to revolutionize energy efficiency in upcoming Android devices.

Significant Improvements in Battery Life

Early tests of the Snapdragon 8 Elite in devices like the OnePlus 13 and ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro reveal dramatic enhancements in battery life.

While both phones have slightly larger batteries, the real game-changer is the new chip’s superior energy efficiency.

  • ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro: Equipped with a 5,800 mAh battery, it achieved a nearly 30% increase in battery life, jumping from 11 hours to 14.5 hours in the PCMark battery test.

  • OnePlus 13: Featuring a 6,000 mAh battery, this device saw an even greater improvement, with battery life increasing by 42%—from 12.2 hours to nearly 17.5 hours, according to Mobilsiden.

Qualcomm reports that the Snapdragon 8 Elite boasts a CPU that is 44% more energy efficient and a GPU that is 40% more efficient than its predecessors.

The ASUS ROG Phone 9 is expected to be among the first devices featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series and Xiaomi’s 15 series are also set to benefit from the new chip when they launch in early 2025.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite promises to deliver a substantial boost in battery life—a welcome upgrade for Android users that could significantly enhance daily device usage. With this breakthrough, long battery life is no longer a trade-off for high performance.
