The most expensive iPhone ever – but is it worth it?

Apple is preparing to shake up the smartphone market with its first-ever foldable iPhone, expected to launch in late 2026 or early 2027.

Analysts predict this model will be Apple’s most expensive iPhone to date, surpassing all previous price records.

The current most expensive iPhone, the iPhone 16 Pro Max (1TB), costs €1,949.

However, the foldable model is rumored to cost between €2,200 and €2,700 in Europe, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The report was first published by Giga.

If these predictions hold, the foldable iPhone will be the priciest smartphone Apple has ever produced—raising the question of whether consumers will be willing to pay such a premium.

The new model will fold like a book, featuring:

  • A 7.8-inch internal display

  • A 5.5-inch external display

  • A thickness of 9–9.5 mm when closed and only 4.5–4.8 mm when open

To ensure durability, Apple is expected to use a mix of titanium and stainless steel.

Another major change could be the removal of Face ID, replaced by a Touch ID button on the side, allowing for a larger display area.

Apple’s Market Test – Will It Succeed?

Apple is reportedly planning to finalize the technical specifications in 2025 and begin mass production in late 2026. A second-generation foldable iPhone is already being planned for 2028.

However, the big question remains: will consumers embrace such an expensive device?

Apple has a history of pushing price boundaries, as seen with the Vision Pro, but even innovation doesn’t always guarantee success.
