Wireless earphones like AirPods have become an essential part of many people’s daily lives. They offer the convenience of listening to music, podcasts, and making calls without the hassle of cables.

However, with the growing popularity of wireless devices, concerns have emerged about their safety — particularly regarding radiation.

Dr. Karan Rajan, an NHS surgeon and TikTok personality who lectures at Sunderland University, has addressed one of the most common myths surrounding AirPods.

In one of his videos, Dr. Karan responds to a TikTok user who claims that AirPods emit harmful radio waves. The user demonstrates how the signal strength changes as the distance from the phone increases, suggesting that it could be hazardous to health.

Dr. Karan, however, dismisses this concern.

He explains that the radio waves emitted by Bluetooth devices, such as AirPods, are very weak and do not pose any health risks. He emphasizes that the low frequencies and minimal strength used to maintain the connection between devices are not harmful.

In other words, there is no need to worry about radiation from AirPods.

While the technology behind wireless earphones is safe, Dr. Karan advises using technology wisely. This is especially important to avoid issues like ear fatigue from prolonged headphone use.

His message is clear: You can use your AirPods without fear of harmful radio waves—but remember to use them in moderation.
