Turkey has blocked access to the popular messaging platform Discord following a court ruling, citing concerns over its use for criminal activities.
According to a report by Daily Sabah on Wednesday, the decision was driven by fears that the platform could be facilitating harmful activities, including crimes against children.
Turkey's Justice Minister, Yilmaz Tunç, explained the decision in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that the ban is aimed at safeguarding young people online.
"We intend to protect our children and young people from dangerous content on social media and the internet," he wrote.
The court ruling specifically mentioned concerns that Discord was being used to facilitate sexual crimes against minors.
