Google is rolling out a huge update to Google Maps, making it smarter and more interactive than ever.
The biggest change?
The integration of Gemini AI, which will allow users to access detailed, real-time information about locations without manual searches.
This was reported by Mobilsiden.
A New AI-Powered Chat Feature
The update introduces a chat function powered by Gemini AI, currently being tested in the latest beta version (16.4.35) for Android.
When users open Google Maps and select a location, a small chat window will appear, allowing them to ask questions about routes, opening hours, reviews, and more — all without scrolling through multiple menus.
Users can interact with Gemini by typing or speaking, and the AI will instantly provide relevant information, making navigation smoother and more intuitive.
When Will the Update Be Available?
The feature is still in beta testing and has not been officially rolled out.
However, reports from Android Authority suggest it could be widely available in the coming months, depending on test results.
With this update, Google Maps is becoming more interactive and AI-driven, aiming to provide more accurate answers and a better user experience.
While it’s not yet confirmed if the feature will be added to iOS, it’s clear that AI will play a much bigger role in navigation and travel planning in the near future.
