Google Maps has begun rolling out a new feature, Clearer Routes, designed to make navigation more straightforward.
Clearer Routes allows you to quickly see where you need to turn, even before you hit the start button. Additionally, you can immediately view the estimated time of arrival.
If you decide to take a different route, Clearer Routes instantly displays an updated path. This feature is functional for driving, walking, and biking.
Notably, Clearer Routes is also visible when your screen is locked. On Android, you will receive regular system notifications. For iOS, it utilizes Live Activities.
How to Enable It?
By default, Clearer Routes is turned off.
To activate the feature, you need to:
Navigate to Google Maps settings and then to navigation settings.
Scrolling down, you will find the option to enable Clearer Routes, located just below Map Display.
Clearer Routes was announced in February last year but is now being widely rolled out.
To use this feature, Android users need version 11.116 of Google Maps, while iOS users should update to version 6.104.2.
