Have you ever dropped your phone in water and now the speaker sounds muffled?

There’s a clever solution to this all-too-common problem: an app that blows the water out of your phone’s speakers.

If your iPhone or iPad’s speakers sound muffled after being exposed to water, the free iOS app Sonic can help. Sonic uses specific sound frequencies to expel water from the speakers.

Using Sonic is straightforward:

  1. Download and install the app from the App Store.

  2. Open the app and set the desired frequency between 0 and 25 kHz.

  3. Adjust the frequency by swiping from the bottom to the top of the screen to increase, or from the top to the bottom to decrease.

  4. Once you've set the desired frequency, press the play button. The app will start producing sound waves that push the water out of the speaker.

Many users, including a Reddit user who tested the app, found that a frequency of 165 Hz works best for removing water from the speaker. If this frequency doesn’t work for you, try experimenting with different frequencies until you find the most effective one for your phone.

If you're an Android user, fret not!

You can use the Fix My Speakers web app, which offers a similar solution. By playing a high-frequency sound, this web app also helps remove water from the speakers of your smartphone.

Next time your phone gets wet, don’t panic. With these apps, you can easily and quickly blow the water out of the speaker and continue using your phone without any issues.
