Samsung is gearing up to release the Galaxy S25 Edge, and while details are still scarce, new rumors suggest the phone will feature a ceramic back.
If true, this design feature could make it one of the most durable and stylish Galaxy devices yet.
A Slim, Strong Design
According to SamMobile and the tech magazine Giga, Samsung plans to use ceramic instead of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the back of the Galaxy S25 Edge, setting it apart from the other S25 models.
The phone is expected to have an ultra-thin design, measuring just 5.84 millimeters in thickness.
While ceramic is known for its premium feel and scratch resistance, it can also be fragile if dropped. To counteract this, Samsung will reportedly use Armor Aluminum for the phone’s frame, ensuring structural integrity and preventing bending.
It is still unclear whether the back will be pure ceramic or a glass-ceramic hybrid, but either way, this material choice could add to the phone’s durability and premium feel.
Expected Features and Trade-Offs
The Galaxy S25 Edge is set to debut in Q2 2025, when Samsung will officially reveal its specifications. While the phone is expected to offer top-tier performance, some compromises may be made.
The battery is rumored to be 3,900 mAh, smaller than the standard Galaxy S25, potentially affecting battery life. Additionally, the S25 Edge is expected to feature a dual-camera system rather than the triple or quad setups seen in higher-end models. However, it will reportedly include the main sensor from the S25 Ultra, ensuring strong camera performance.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be positioned near the Galaxy S25 Plus, meaning its price could be around €1,149.
