Samsung is already known for its strong update policy, but with the Galaxy A56, the company is taking things a step further.

According to new reports, the A56 will receive six years of Android updates and security patches, making it one of the longest-supported mid-range smartphones on the market.

The Galaxy A56 is now approaching the software longevity of Samsung’s flagship devices.

For comparison, the Galaxy S25 series is set to receive seven years of updates, meaning A56 users can hold onto their devices for significantly longer without compromising on security or software features, Giga reports.

While many smartphone brands stop providing updates after three to four years, Samsung is setting a new standard in the mid-range segment.

Xiaomi and other competitors rarely offer more than four years of updates, which could make the Galaxy A56 a far more appealing option for long-term users.

More Models Getting the Same Upgrade

It’s not just the Galaxy A56 — Samsung is expected to extend the same six-year update policy to the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A16, reinforcing its commitment to making mid-range smartphones more durable and future-proof.

With long-term software support, strong hardware, and competitive pricing, the Galaxy A56 is shaping up to be one of the most compelling smartphones of 2025.
