Samsung is reportedly working on its most ambitious foldable phone yet — a triple-folding device.
According to Trend, this phone could potentially debut as early as July 2025, alongside the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
The new device, possibly named the Samsung Galaxy G Fold, was revealed through a recently discovered patent filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The findings, first reported by 91mobiles, provide the clearest indication yet of Samsung’s future in foldable tech.
What the Patent Reveals
The patent sketches show a device with two hinges, allowing the screen to fold into three parts. When fully unfolded, the display is expected to span 9.96 inches, offering a tablet-like user experience.
When folded, the device could use a 6.49-inch outer screen for standard smartphone tasks — similar to the current Galaxy Fold lineup but with an extra layer of versatility.
Interestingly, the design appears to include a slot for an S Pen, pointing to Galaxy Note-like productivity features. The volume and power buttons are placed at the top edge of the device, possibly due to space constraints caused by the multiple folding layers.
Unlike Huawei’s triple-fold phone, which allows users to open one, two, or three screen sections depending on need, Samsung’s design seems to offer only two positions: fully closed or fully opened.
This could mean less flexibility for users in comparison—but given this is just a patent, the final implementation may differ.
Analysts suggest Samsung may be prioritizing durability, software simplicity, and stylus compatibility over partial folding.
Will It Launch in 2025?
Rumors suggest the triple-folding phone could launch first in South Korea, possibly as a limited release, before expanding globally based on market feedback.
Samsung already leads the global foldable market and is preparing to launch its seventh generation of foldables next year.
The triple-fold device could serve as a next-gen flagship, pushing boundaries well beyond today’s flip and fold form factors.
