WhatsApp is on the brink of launching a revolutionary feature: Live Translate, which will enable real-time translation of voice calls between users speaking different languages. This groundbreaking functionality is rooted in Galaxy AI, a technology developed by Samsung and introduced with the launch of the Galaxy S24.

Live Translate Feature

Live Translate integrates directly into voice calls, translating each statement into the listener’s native language while maintaining the original speaker's voice. This system works bidirectionally, ensuring that translation occurs in both directions as long as at least one participant is using a compatible Samsung device.

For WhatsApp’s two billion users, the integration of Live Translate will significantly diminish language barriers. This will facilitate easier communication with people from different cultures and regions without the need for foreign language proficiency.

Benefits for Samsung and WhatsApp

Samsung stands to benefit from increased sales of Galaxy phones due to this exclusive and attractive feature. For WhatsApp, this collaboration will bolster its position as one of the most versatile messaging apps globally, adding a new dimension to its usage.

Currently, Live Translate supports 16 languages: Simplified Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese, Arabic, Indonesian, and Russian.
