Crushed Beer Cans or Masterpiece? LAM Museum’s Art Mix-Up

Trending Now

A new lift technician at the Dutch LAM art museum mistakenly discarded a famous artwork, believing it to be trash, reports OddityCentral.

The artwork, All The Good Times We Spent Together by French artist Alexandre Lavet, resembles two crushed beer cans, meticulously hand-painted with acrylic.

However, its realistic appearance can easily lead to confusion, especially in the LAM Museum, known for displaying art in unexpected locations to surprise visitors.

The misunderstanding occurred when the new technician found the cans in an elevator and, assuming they were garbage, threw them into a trash bin.

Fortunately, a curator returning from a break noticed the artwork was missing and began searching for it.

The cans were recovered from a bin bag just in time before being permanently discarded.

The museum's director, Sietske van Zanten, explained that the museum encourages people to see everyday objects in a new light by placing them in unconventional spots.

However, she acknowledged that this approach can occasionally lead to misunderstandings.

There were no hard feelings toward the technician, who was simply doing his job, but the museum now plans to be more cautious when choosing display locations for such unconventional pieces.
