On December 14th, a family was enjoying a happy day at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo beach in Mexico, with a little girl and her mother playing in the crystal-clear waters of the Pacific Ocean, under the watchful eye of the grandfather who was capturing the moment on camera.
However, the idyllic scene quickly turned tragic when the mother noticed something amiss a few meters off the shore and asked her father to stop filming.
The horrifying event was later shared on TikTok by Marlène Luviano on December 21st.

In the background of the video, a man was attacked by a marine creature. The victim, a 76-year-old Canadian tourist named Jeff Bynens, suffered a severe leg injury with a significant part of his limb missing.
"The wound was obvious, and there was no more blood," Marlène testified, indicating that the victim had bled out before being brought back to the beach.
The debate arises whether the attacker was a shark or a crocodile.
Experts lean towards the latter, as the nature of the injury resembled that of a crocodile attack more, and a nearby breeding farm is known to have crocodiles that occasionally venture into the surrounding area.
