Storm Pia has been wreaking havoc in recent days, particularly across the British Isles, with many areas being swept by ultra-violent winds.

While it went somewhat unnoticed on Thursday, the landing of a Helsinki-Manchester flight was particularly turbulent, but footage from the last few hours has resurfaced.

The pilot of this Airbus A321 demonstrated astonishing composure to land the aircraft under these challenging conditions.

The Finnair flight had waited north of Manchester before receiving permission to land at its destination airport. However, after an initial failed attempt, the plane returned to the runway.

The wind gusts buffeted the aircraft so much that it made an incredible landing, as shown in the footage filmed that day.

With winds nearing 62 mph, the plane was shaken violently before managing to place one set of tires and then another on the tarmac, eventually stabilizing the entire aircraft.

From the footage, one can easily imagine the fright passengers must have felt throughout the landing, which ultimately ended well.
