A soccer coach from US Revel thought he was purchasing 15 tickets for his team's French Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Sunday, January 7, at the Pierre-Fabre Stadium in Castres.
However, due to either a human error or a technical glitch, Pascal, the coach of the senior women's team at US Revel (Haute-Garonne), ended up with a big surprise.
According to L'Independante, Pascal hurried to the ticket office to secure seats for the much-anticipated Revel vs. PSG match, a rare event for the small club competing in Regional 1, five divisions below Ligue 1. The match was set to take place on January 7 at 8:45 PM in Castres, about thirty kilometers from Revel, at the Pierre-Fabre Stadium, home of the Castres Olympique rugby team.
"I received an email saying that the ticket office was open for the Revel - PSG match," Pascal explained to L'Indépendant. "I went to the Castres Olympique website, got my 15 allocated tickets for the match, and paid. Then, I received the confirmation email..." To his disbelief, the email read:
"Here are your 15 tickets for the Castres Olympique - USAP match."
Castres Olympique - USAP is a Rugby match and not the soccer match he intended to buy tickets for.
This Top 14 rugby match was indeed scheduled on the same field, but on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
"I like Castres Olympique, I have no problem with them, but it's not my club! What I want to see is Revel-PSG! And then, I've thrown 300 euros away ($331)!" lamented the coach. "What can I do? I have no choice, I'm trying to resell these tickets to fund the 15 others."
Hopefully Pascal will manage to get the right tickets this time.
